Nope, not the legal tender of the Island of Misfit Toys. Christmas Island is an island off of Australia. The island is said to have been named in a fit of festivity by Captain William Mynors as he sailed past on Christmas Day 1643. The Christmas Island Dollar was the currency of the island before it started using the Australian currency. The island is home to roughly 1,800 people and most of it (a little over two thirds) is a state park.
